The creation of the Local economic development office (LEDO) in Serbia was aimed at creating measures to simulate economic development through the implementation of development projects, attracting investments, as well as cooperation with local businessmen. The long-term continuous examination of the needs of the local community significantly contributes to the expansion of the area of activity of the Local Economic Development office, so that by connecting related segments that contribute to the development of the city, the concept of the work of the professional team, as well as the set goals, are modernized.
Today, LEDO is a professional team of people with different profiles, who initiate initiatives, provide solutions and carry out various activities within their competence. Within the office for local economic development, public investment projects are carried out, thanks to which work is being done on the technical preparation of project documentation, infrastructure works are monitored in all phases of implementation and are successfully implemented for the benefit of all citizens of Pirot. The office acts in the direction of attracting domestic and foreign investments and providing assistance to the existing business community. Through its work, the Office strives to improve the business climate in Pirot and encourage faster economic development of the City. Also, the project team of the Office for Local Economic Development is entrusted with work on the preparation and implementation of projects, which are mainly financed from EU funds.
