The goal of the project - The formation of the Institute for Local Economic Development of the municipality and the team, which would work on sustainable development as an indispensable component of BLEDP's work and thus enable a better quality of life and prosperity for citizens by creating a favorable business climate in the municipality, attracting investments, providing education and partnerships for the improvement of rural development, as well as other activities in the field of LED.

In line with the ongoing efforts, BLEDP is expected to see an increased inflow of investments into the municipality, with a higher rate of economic development, an increase in the standard of living of citizens, a decrease in the unemployment rate and a greater participation of the local population in the development of the municipality.

The main objective of the project - Establishing an effective cross-border model for business support and creating conditions for improving economic competitiveness in the border region through joint initiatives to develop the economic zone in Pirot, free zone in Pirot and free zone in Pernik, which will facilitate access of Serbian and Bulgarian goods and products to the large markets of EU countries and Russia.

First Call for Proposals: Bulgaria -Serbia Cross-border Cooperation IPA CBC (2011-2012)
General objective - Establishing long-term cooperation and strengthening territorial cohesion in order to improve and diversify the economy. This will be achieved by enabling businesses and public authorities in the municipalities of Pirot and Montana to get to know each other and communicate with each other, to better understand the existing capacities and resources in the region and to add value to networking activities, ensuring the sustainability of the local economy and quality of life.
Youth Center, ZIP Center - 363.393 EUR

Special task:
• To establish a ZiP-Center of Youth;
• Employment and entrepreneurship;
• ZiP Youth Center as a key tool for the economic development of the municipality to support employment and entrepreneurship in the Pirot district of Serbia;

• To enable the launch and competitiveness of MMSP and to expand employment in the Pirot District;

General objectives:
• Development of a small sports infrastructure in the cross-border Region of Montana-Pirot.
• Improving sports infrastructure in the cross-border region and creating conditions for children aged 3 to 18 to live a more active and environmentally friendly life;
• Establishing a long-term partnership between sports clubs on both sides of the border;
• Overcoming legal obstacles and developing user guides for the organization of cross-border and other international sports tournaments and events.
Reconstruction of the Hall of Culture - 190,000 EUR
Second call: Cross-border cooperation Bulgaria -Serbia IPA CBC (2013-2014)
Specific objectives of the project proposal:
• Modernization of cultural centers in the cross-border region of Čupren – Pirot;
• Improving infrastructure related to the popularization of cultural heritage through works on the construction and renovation of leading social centers;
• Strengthening cultural relations between partners thanks to joint activities and development of cultural relations between Čupren and Pirot, including the production and distribution of information materials, events, the creation of the Steering Committee and the development of a strategy and calendar for international cooperation. The overall objective of the project is to improve cross-border cooperation through the modernization of social infrastructure in the field of sports in Pravec and Pirot, with the aim of sustainable development of sport for people of all ages and social groups.

• Promoting cross-border cooperation through the development of sports infrastructure;
• Construction of an athletic track in Pravec and open sports fields in Pirot;

Project objectives:
• Improving waste management systems in the Montana-Pirot cross-border region;
• Improving waste removal and collection in the cross-border region;
• Building municipal administrative capacities and practices in the field of waste management;
• Establishment of an operational network for specialized staff in administration in relation to waste management issues and regulations.

Construction of pitch field in Prčevac and procurement of ice rink - 220.000 EUR
Project objectives:
• Modernisation and improvement of existing sports infrastructure in the Montana-Pirot cross-border region;
• Improving sports infrastructure, utilities in the cross-border region and creating conditions for local communities, especially young people (up to the age of 35), to be more vibrant and environmentally friendly;
• Establishing a long-term partnership between sports clubs on both sides of the border;
• Establishment of a system of joint response and cooperative approach in the field of proactive activities by using and attracting local communities to participate in outdoor activities, using new and modern facilities.
Tourism and Mountain Lodge in Dojkinci - 208.638 EUR
Second call: Cross-border cooperation Bulgaria -Serbia IPA CBC (2014-2015)
Overall objective:
Improve the social infrastructure in the Varsec-Pirot region in the field of education, sports and strengthen the territorial cohesion of the region of cross-border cooperation, its competitiveness and the sustainability of its development.
Specific objectives:
• Cross-border cooperation as the basis of sustainable development;
• Build a bicycle path and set up an ice rink as a sports venue for at least 600 young people in Varsec.
• Reconstruct the existing building in Pirot to be a youth hiking centre of at least 500 young people;
• To explore the potential of regional development;
• Creating a forum and film for the promotion of the region.

Special task:
• Modernization and renovation of educational institutions in the montana-pirot cross-border region;

• Strengthening educational relations through the exchange of expertise and strategic planning in the cross-border region.

The project - Business Infrastructure - part of the logistics center Pirot, which is intended for equipping land for new warehouses, factories and other business facilities, which will create a positive business climate for attracting foreign and domestic investments. Project - Logistics Center Pirot will enable users to quickly transfer goods from railways to trucks and vice versa, connecting with other intermodal nodes of Southeast Europe and the world.
Reconstruction of kale fortress - 406.000 EUR
First Call for the Interreg-IPA Cross-border Programme Bulgaria - Serbia (2016-2019)
Overall objective:
• Conservation, Revitalization and exhibition exhibitions of the early Christian basilica and medieval fortress in the cross-border region;
• Improving the tourist attractiveness of the cross-border Region Bulgaria - Serbia through activities on protection, conservation - restoration, preservation and exhibition of the early Christian basilica, Castra ad Montenezium and the city of Momčilo - Kale.
• Developing an attractive tourist destination, which provides interesting historical facts about this area, architecture and religion in antiquity in these countries.

First Call for interreg IPA Cross-border Programme Bulgaria - Serbia (2016-2018)
With its activities – the establishment of a center for biodiversity conservation of fish species and the construction of an educational camp on the protection of biodiversity and river species "ECO MOUNTAIN CAMP" – this project is strongly related to achieving the specific goal of the program:
• Joint cross-border initiatives to create an ecologically healthy region;
• Promoting and improving the use of common natural resources, as well as stimulating nature conservation in the programme area, through joint initiatives across borders;
• The results of the project will be implemented, and it will be easy to identify joint and concrete actions in the border region. Contributions are seen in creating synergistic effects in environmental protection and resource management.
Procurement of equipment for the maternity hospital - 258.921 EUR
First Call for the Interreg-IPA Bulgaria-Serbia Cross-border Programme (2016-2018)
In this project, medical equipment for the hospital was procured, education and training of young parents and young doctors was enabled in accordance with EU trends.
Project objectives:
• Preventing demographic collapse in the Montana-Pirot cross-border region;
• Supporting the development of an attractive environment for the advancement of young people in the border region;
• Promoting entrepreneurship among young people through continuing training and skills-based courses;
• Improving access to information in the field of career development in the cross-border region.

Terrain with artificial grass - 423.104 EUR
First Call for the Interreg IPA Bulgaria-Serbia Cross-border Programme (2020-2022)
Project objectives:
• Sports activities for young people in the cross-border region;
• Creating/renovating infrastructural sports facilities for the advancement and training of young people in both municipalities and providing ways for their active inclusion in social life;
• Improving the physical and mental health of young people through sports, developing their (and their parents') awareness of the benefits of sport;
• Establishing a constructive dialogue among young people from the CBC region; and all this results in greater territorial and social cohesion between Montana and Pirot.
Project activities:
• Construction and reconstruction of sports facilities (artificial greening of the playground in Pirot) and modernization of the stadium in the village of Nikolovo;
• Providing a large number of parking spaces;
• Ensuring greater capacity of the stands;
• Proper separation of dressing rooms;
• Raising the capacity of the facility to attract young people and visitors;
• Holding seminars for parents on the benefits of sport, seven-day events for acquiring skills and exchanging experiences among young people in the cross-border region;
• Development of a strategy for the development of sport in the cross-border region, development and maintenance of an innovative website.
Step Forward, Women's Entrepreneurship - $4,560
Swiss PRO 2021
This project is focused on two segments:
Economic empowerment of unemployed women, beginners in business, but also women entrepreneurs who started their business in previous years (in the last 1-3 years).
After creating a database of potential participants in the project, professional trainings were organized in the period April-June 2021, which was attended by 45 participants.
In order to support the economic empowerment of women in Pirot, a promo video "Step forward" was made, as well as promotional materials (posters, leaflets, banners, published public call), in order to inform the target group and the local community about the planned activities and goals of the project.
Social Protection, Family Assistance and Support Center, Social Services - $11,783
Swiss Pro (2021-2022)
The overall objective of the project - the introduction of advisory-therapeutic and socio-educational programs aimed at providing services to families with children, in order to mitigate the consequences of COVID-19.
Specific goal - providing assistance and support to current users of the Center
for social work, but also for all potential beneficiaries or families who will need some form of professional assistance.
